NIA searches Saokat Molla’s home and party office, son questioned in Bhangar blast case
A newborn girl was found alive in a dustbin beneath Nivedita Setu in the Panchanantala area of Bally, Howrah district, on Wednesday morning. Local residents and passersby reportedly heard the sound of a baby crying and began searching for its source. A toto driver who arrived at the spot located the infant inside a roadside dustbin and immediately pulled her out with the help of bystanders.
The rescued baby was taken to a nearby private hospital, where she was admitted for medical treatment. Hospital authorities confirmed that the newborn was under observation. Locals gathered at the spot after the incident, and some of them assisted in transporting the baby for urgent care.
Upon receiving information, officers from the Bally police station visited the hospital and took stock of the situation. Police have initiated an investigation into the incident and are examining nearby CCTV footage. Preliminary information suggests the infant may have been abandoned shortly after birth.
